Bowral High School Celebrates Career Pathways in Hospitality

National Careers Week Hospitality Masterclass Inspires Bowral High Students

As part of National Careers Week, Bowral High School students had the opportunity to explore the exciting world of hospitality through an Introduction to Hospitality Masterclass delivered in partnership with the Educational Pathways Program (EPP).

The workshop provided valuable insight into the diverse career opportunities available within the hospitality industry. Students heard from Tyler Pockran, EPP VET Ambassador and Chef de Partie, who shared his personal journey from School-Based Apprentice to hospitality professional, offering firsthand advice and inspiration for students considering vocational pathways.

A highlight of the session was the hands-on practical component, where students assembled and decorated fruit tarts while developing skills in food preparation, presentation, teamwork and workplace safety. The activity provided a practical introduction to the expectations and opportunities within the hospitality sector.

Students also learned about School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) and how vocational education can provide direct pathways into further training, employment and rewarding careers.

Bowral High School values opportunities such as these, which allow students to engage with industry professionals, develop practical skills and gain a deeper understanding of potential future career pathways. Through partnerships with the Educational Pathways Program, students are supported to make informed decisions about their futures and explore the many opportunities available beyond the classroom.
