Financial contributions and assistance

There are some costs associated with going to school that you may find it helpful to plan and budget for.

Costs to consider include:

  • uniforms

  • school books and equipment

  • excursions

  • co-curricular activities.

Voluntary school contributions

Like all NSW public schools, we can request contributions to enhance our educational and sporting programs including elective subjects. School contributions help provide additional educational resources for the benefit of students. Payment is voluntary.

For more information, visit the Voluntary School Contribution policy.

Financial assistance

If you are unable to pay school contributions because of financial hardship, you may be eligible for assistance from the school.

Our principal will ensure no student or family suffers any discrimination or embarrassment over the inability to pay school contributions.

Fees and payment options

At the commencement of 2018 we have certainly recognised and celebrated the achievements of the HSC Class of 2017, an outcome of highly motivated and committed students and staff.  To ensure that our school can offer quality learning programs to all students we ask that all families pay the scheduled contributions as shown below.

Contribution Schedule

General School Contributions

These provide for first aid (bandages, ice packs, ambulance…) learning materials (textbook hire, worksheets…), equipment, library resources (books, subscription journals…), performing arts (ensembles-music scores, musical instruments, productions-scripts…), academic competitions and the like.

Please note: General school contributions paid before the end of Term 1 receive a 10% discount for one student or 15% discount for two or more.

Technology Levy across the Curriculum

The use and study of computer technology is central to all subjects and fully networked facilities provide access to the internet.  This contribution provides for internet access, system maintenance, consumables (ink cartridges, paper…), software, site licensing and the purchase of peripherals for computers (printers, desk drives, scanners, digital cameras, midi interfaces/keyboards, projectors…).

Communication and Publications

This provides for prospectuses (junior, senior), assessment booklets, peer support manuals/workbooks, student information booklets, course booklets, newsletters, reporting to parents (post, telephone, facsimile), HSC, Careers and Survival Manuals…

Sport Levy – Years 7 – 11

This levy is to cover the provision of equipment and maintenance of sporting facilities and to subsidise buses to major carnivals.

Subject Fees

Fees are applied to certain courses to cover the cost of consumables used in meeting course outcomes.

BHS Building Fund (tax deductible donations)

For future major works programme.

Please contact the finance office for current contribution costings.

*Note:  Parents can make application to the Student Assistance Scheme Committee for financial support to meet the costs of such items as school uniform and special subject costs.  Application forms are available from the finance office and they should be returned in a sealed envelope addressed to the Principal and marked CONFIDENTIAL.

On behalf of the BHS Finance Committee, we thank you in anticipation of your support for the provision of quality learning opportunities for our students.
