Writing in Secondary Program

This year, at Bowral High School, we are extremely fortunate to have the opportunity for seven of our teachers across four key learning areas to participate in the Writing in Secondary (WIS) program. This program is designed to strengthen the teaching of writing across all subject disciplines with the aim to lift academic writing in Stages 4 and 5. 

Teachers are supported through rich evidence-based professional development and resources to create classrooms where the focus is to concurrently build students' content knowledge whilst developing their writing skills. Our dedicated teachers have completed 30 hours of professional development over the year to embed writing strategies within their programs, materials tasks and teaching practice.

Pleasing results are already evident through student writing samples and classroom observations.
